Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1988 Mercedes-Benz SL-CLASS recalls can be found in this database. Additional Description: 1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL Silver with Blue Leather interior, Navy Blue soft Top, Silver Hard Top. This two owner car with clean history report is all original with original paint it comes with its original owners manuals and service book. The paint has a very high luster with very few flaws only some small chips as one would expect from a 32 year old car. It has been well maintained and appears to have been garaged for its entire life. The engine and transmission are smooth and performed flawlessly. The following is a independent review of this vehicle: Mercedes 560SL 1988 Convertible A grand tourer with refined manners, Comfortable for long and short journeys, Soft and hard top included, Not a rattle or shudder! Mercedes has a long and honorable tradition of building convertibles, this particular car being powered by the desirable 5.5 liter V8. The 560 has become a classic and is highly prized by devoted owners, who value an automobile that is easy on the eye, comfortable, and ideal for rambles in the country. I knew this was a refined automobile directly I took it onto the freeway. The acceleration was smooth and assured, more than ample for expressway speeds, while cruising was a quiet delight. Like all Mercedes, this is a refined long distance motorcar, nurtured on German autobahns and capable of ambling along at 65 to 70 for hours. Such performance is a given for all Mercedes, even ones that have over thirty years on the roadand there was not a rattle or creak to be heard after all these years. It was a warm day, so I took the drive with the top down. Visibility was excellent and the wind noise quite subdued. The seats were comfortable and supportive, somewhat more austere than their modern descendants, but more than adequate for a long journey. The 560 is a nice freeway car, but where it really excels is on sweeping country roads, where the smooth engine and nicely calibrated automatic transmission make either fast driving, or leisurely progression, a sheer delight. This is a lovely automobile for relaxed journeys enjoying the scenery and smelling the flowers. And when you come to the curves, the light, well controlled steering allows you to position everything in just the right place for the bend. Not that I would accelerate out too fast, for youll be gently rebuked by a soft squeal from the tires. No fault with the car, its just the nature of the 560, which is very much a gentlemans and ladys conveyance in the nicest possible way. You can shift the lever from automatic down into third and second if you wish, but in practice this is probably most useful for saving brake wear downhill and for exceptionally sharp corners. This is a remarkably versatile car, quite at home in traffic, ideal for fast, safe travel, and a joy along the beach on a sunny day. No extremes here, just a carefully thought out concept superbly executed with classic German attention to detail. With its large trunk, this is an ideal car for weekends or for golf excursions, very much a car that is admired by pedestrians and other drivers alike. The descendants of the 560 are very refined, luxurious (and expensive) cars with every amenity imaginable. This convertible of three decades ago is a simpler automobile, well equipped for its day, but with none of the electronic elaborations of today. This is one of its charms, for it offers a chance to savor the simpler motoring of a generation ago. This is a car to fall in love with and keep for years. Its a classic car of the 1980s. 560SLs pass through Lens hands quite frequently, most of them newer than this exceptionally well maintained example from the late 1980s. With 60,000 miles on the odometer, the mileage for a car of this vintage is far from excessive. A two-owner car, its been lightly used and is spotless. A hardcover comes with the car as well as the soft top.
