Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1993 Jaguar XJ-SERIES recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.

Additional Description: 1993 XJR-S JAGUARSPORT CONVERTIBLE. Only 50 of these Jaguarsport convertibles were ever produced at the Jaguarsport facility . Some history This car is body #1022 Avery plaque# 037 (probably the 22 convertible built). Same owner last 21 years. One owner prior! These finely balanced and developed variants of the XJ-S were a private offering from TWR without the backing of Jaguar. However, things were put on a more official basis in 1988 with the birth of a new company, JaguarSport, owned 50/50 by Jaguar and TWR, but not connected to the racing side. The principle idea of the joint venture was to offer a special range of upgraded XJ-S coupes and XJ saloons and develop future models of a similar nature (XJ220 and XJR-15 for example), which with the help of Jaguars mainstream research and development facility at Whitley in Coventry. In effect JaguarSport offered Jaguar an extra range of models, more sporty in nature and aimed at a slightly different customer than the traditional factory built cars. Jaguar was widely regarded as an 'Old mans' marque and these cars helped it to create a younger market. In essence, however, the cars started life as standard production vehicles allotted to JaguarSport for finishing. The semi-complete cars left Jaguar's Brown Lane factory with or without certain items of equipment dependant on each specific order, and after transportation to the JaguarSport facility near Oxford were treated to the appropriate make over. The specifications depended entirely on the individual customer requirement, which were placed in the usual way through a Jaguar dealership (initially only 20 of these were involved in the scheme, but it was later expanded to all dealers). Finished cars were subsequently delivered to the appropriate dealer in the normal way and all Jaguar warranties applied. For the 1990 model year JaguarSport announced a 6.0 litre model. Providing 362lb/ft of torque at 3750rpm, this had a claimed top speed of 158mph (limited) and 0-60mph acceleration time of 6.5 seconds. This amounted to a 17% increase in torque and 11% more power than the 5.3 litre engine. The extra displacement came via a stroke increase from 70mm (2.75) to (3.09) and re-engineered crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods and cylinder liners. A new sequential digital ignition engine management system was adopted, made by Zytek, derived from the Group C World Sportscar Jaguar. The suspension was stiffened even further with front and rear springs. wheel size was increased to 8. The XJR-S was further developed in 1992, when a new model became available using the new face lifted XJS bodywork. The opportunity was also taken to redesign the styling to the XJR-S, this time devised in house by Jaguar themselves, with sculptured oversills arguably making this the most attractive XJS of them all. Mechanically a change of catalyst plus revised engine management system boosted output again to 338bhp, and the cars were fitted with Goodyear Eagle ZR tyres. Interior changes followed those of the facelift model. Offered at this point for the very first time in the USA, out of 100 cars sold to the states, 50 of them were Convertibles. These represented the only regular production convertibles of the entire 1000 car production of XJR_S cars produced by JaguarSport 1988-1993.Air Conditioning, Alarm System, Alloy Wheels, All-Season Tires, Am/Fm Radio, Anti-Lock Brakes, Armrests - Dual Front, Automatic Transmission, Center Console Storage, Cruise Control, Driver And Passenger Front Airbags, Heated Front Seats, High Performance Tires, Leather Seats, Memory Seat Adjuster, Power Mirrors, Power Seats, Power Trunk, Power Windows, Premium Leather, Rear Spoiler, Rear Window Defroster, Spare Tire, Tilt Steering Wheel, Tinted Glass
